Mike Simmons Bio:

After graduating from the University of Miami, Mike started his career as a Safety Manager and then Safety and Compliance Specialist for Sequatchie Valley Coal Corporation. In 1987, Mike was hired on with Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative. During his 27 years at SVEC, he was an Operations Aid, Safety & Right-of-way Coordinator, and Safety & Maintenance Coordinator. After serving as a member of the JT&S advisory committee, Mike transitioned to JT&S Coordinator in 2014. Mike is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), as well as a Certified Safety Coordinator (CSC).

Holly Bellucci Bio:

Holly graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2009. After graduation, she spent 5 years in the customer service industry. In 2015, she received her Graphic Design and Web Development Certificate from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. Holly has been with JT&S since the spring of 2016. In 2018, Holly earned the Certified Administrative Professional designation.

Arch Slater Bio:

Arch had 28 years of service at Duck River Electric before starting his career at JT&S in the fall of 2018. He started out as a meter reader for his first year and a half at DREMC, and then he started his lineman apprenticeship. He was a lineman for 18 years and then transitioned to a foreman role for his last 8 years with DREMC. Arch is the lead instructor on JT&S’ Basic and Advanced Transformer Schools and enjoys using his expertise to train the next generation of linemen.

Mike Matheny Bio:

Mike spent 35 years at Southwest Tennessee Electric before joining JT&S in the fall of 2018. At Southwest, Mike was a groundman for 5 months before starting his lineman apprenticeship. He was a Journeyman Lineman and then transitioned to the role of Substation Technician responsible for 24 substations and serving 11 counties in West Tennessee. Mike has been on the board of the Tennessee Valley Lineman Rodeo for 15 years.

Darrin Costner Bio:

Darrin worked at Newport Utilities for 23 years. He was hired in as a groundman, then obtained his Journeyman Lineman credentials through SELCAT and TVPPA. In 2016, he moved to the engineering department where he obtained his line design and distribution credentials through TVPPA and worked as an engineering/staking tech until August of 2022. Darrin joined JT&S in August of 2022.

Zach Spicer Bio:

Zach is a former United States Marine that began his Lineman career in 2004 with Dickson Electric. While at Dickson Electric, Zach was Lead Substation Technician and was responsible for eight distribution substations providing power to over 37,000 customers. Zach is a Certified Utility Safety Professional and he joined the JT&S team in October of 2022.

John Marquess Bio:

John began his career in 1993 with Cumberland Electric. He received his journeyman lineman's certification and then worked as a working Foreman. Upon relocating to the Clarksville area, he spent the rest of his time in the field as a journeyman lineman at CDE Lightband on their overhead construction crew and underground primary crew. The past three years John has been an instructor at North American Training Center teaching pre-apprentices all aspects of line work. John is very passionate about the trade and the individuals who are involved in it.

Tim Stephens Bio:

Tim worked for the last 30 years at Athens Utilities Board.  He was hired in as a meter reader in 1993 and read meters for 14 years before starting his lineman apprenticeship in 2007. He was a lineman until he came to work at JT&S in January 2024.

Brian Lewis Bio:

Brian graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a degree in Human Nutrition and Food Science. After graduating, he went to work for Tennessee OSHA. He worked as an industrial hygienist, a safety compliance officer, and public sector compliance officer and consultant. Since his earliest days in TOSHA, he has been a trainer and he enjoys being able to continue educating through JT&S.

Jeremy Cates Bio:

Before joining the JT&S Public Works division in the winter of 2018, Jeremy was with Fire and Emergency Medical Services with Brighton, Brownsville, and Covington in West Tennessee for 20 years. He also spent four years as a Repair Technician for Covington Public Works. As a lifelong learner, Jeremy has earned many credentials including a Masters in Mechanics, Fire Commission Training Officer, Safety Officer, Fire Officer, Fire Investigator, and his EMS license.
